Family circles

The feature the app is named for. Create a Quran circle, give it a short name people can say out loud, and everyone in it can see how the others are doing and read towards the same daily goal.

Invite links are the normal way to do this and they are the wrong way here. A child, a grandparent, a student at the back of a class — they are not going to type a forty-character URL. A circle has a short nickname instead: lowercase letters and digits, three to twenty-four characters, said once and typed correctly.

A circle holds up to two hundred people, because a family is the small case. A memorisation halaqa at a masjid or a school class is the large one, and the app is built for the large one so the small one is never cramped.

Inside, everyone has a daily page goal and a visible progress bar against it. That is the whole mechanism: seeing that your brother has read his pages and you have not is a better reminder than any notification, and it is the reason people finish.

An admin approves who joins, can set or change a member's goal, and can remove someone. Every member can block or report another. Nobody is stuck in a circle they want out of.

What you get

Join by name

A short nickname anyone can say and type — no links.

Up to 200 members

Sized for a memorisation halaqa, not just a household.

A goal each

Daily pages per member, visible to the circle.

Moderated

Approve joins, block, report, remove. The admin holds the keys.

How it works

  1. Create the circle

Family → Create. Give it a name people will recognise, and a short nickname they will type. The app checks the nickname is free before you commit to it.

  2. Tell people the nickname

Say it at dinner, or send it in a message. They open the app, tap Join, and type it.

  3. Approve and set goals

New members wait for your approval. Give each one a daily page goal — the same for everyone, or one that fits a seven-year-old and another that fits a hafiz.

  4. Read, and watch it fill

Everyone's bar moves as they read in the mushaf. Nobody reports anything by hand.
